METRO handles the daily route planning with help from AMCS’ optimisation suite and mobile solution. The international wholesaler METRO Cash & Carry is represented in 29 countries with 544 warehouses. The company employs 106,878 people and has an annual turnover of 31.6 billion Euros. In Denmark, METRO Cash & Carry has 5 warehouses, and the 40,000 annual drops are conducted by 21 trucks and 5 vans for ad hoc orders.


METRO Cash & Carry for professional customers is growing rapidly, and recently, the company decided to insource the delivery and distribution set-up in order to increase service levels.

The challenge

The Solution

Now, METRO uses AMCS route planning system for planning the daily routes of all 5 warehouses. A  task which used to take several hours, now takes merely 5 minutes. Via AMCS’ mobile solution, routes, maps and information on each drop are available to the drivers on iPad minis from which manual changes can be made if necessary.
